My daughter, the social worker. She calls me, worried she’s a terrible person. Says she ignores her work phone on her days off, lets those families wait. Crisis calls, she calls them. And she feels… selfish. I tell her it’s fine, everyone needs rest. But then I remember. My own mother, working all day, then more work at home, then community, never stopping. My daughter, she's American. Am I the only one who thinks this way? Or is it just us, the old ones? Is this a weakness, this need for *rest*?
