I'm pretty sure my default state is now "chronically depleted." Like, I’m 31, not 61, but my energy levels are consistently at a baseline below what appears physiologically appropriate for my age cohort. My parents are starting to need more *active* management, the twins are relentless, and my job requires a level of cognitive function I just don’t possess past 3 pm. I keep wondering if this profound exhaustion is typical for a full-time working single parent with two small children and increasingly dependent elders, or if I should, you know, schedule a comprehensive metabolic panel to rule out… something more dramatic. It’s probably just the inherent design flaw of trying to be everything to everyone, isn't it? Ha.
