I went to playgroup today and it was… a lot. Like, the whole time I’m trying to keep this cheerful conversation going with the other parents (about organic snacks or something equally IMPORTANT) while my kid is literally trying to rip a toy out of another toddler's hands, full on refusing to share. And I'm just thinking, why do we do this? Why do we pretend everything is FINE and GREAT when sometimes it’s just REALLY hard and messy, and everyone else seems so GOOD at it. It feels like this big performance we’re all putting on, and sometimes I just want to scream.
